Ms. Hernandez write about discrimination in two forms in her book. The first is of those children that go to prison or state institutes and are unable to continue their education. The second is of children discriminating against one another in school and some action that can be taken for parents of these children.
I personally did not know of the struggle that young people who were imprisoned had such a hard time getting back to school. I did know about the student discriminating against others. It is unfortunately very common and I think it occurs to everyone regardless or color. It happens in different degree. I agree that it is important for school to recognize this problem and not turn a blind eye to it. I also feel that it is at home that views should be changed. Regardless of how badly things may get in the school it is learned not only from peers but by parents. Unless we all change or personal stereotypes and ’isims’ or children will never live free of prejudice and discrimination
